Riikka Anttonen (b.1982) is a Helsinki-based visual artist working in the expanded field of sculpture. Their space-sensitive works combine sculptural elements with marble mosaic and relief surfaces. Anttonen works through the lens of queer experience, with a recurring theme of metamorphosis. Their works often combine references to ancient Roman times into fantasies of worlds that defy easy categorization. They hold an MFA degree from the University of the Arts, Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki, and an MA degree from the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. 

 

Anttonen’s most recent works have been shown at: Galería Yusto/Giner (ES), Bærum Kunsthall (NO), Kunsthalle Helsinki (FI), Kai Art Center, (EE), Forum Box (FI)  and elsewhere. Anttonen’s art is currently being shown at Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma (FI). Anttonen is a member of the Association of Finnish Sculptors and the Forum Box artists’ association. In 2025, Anttonen was awarded a Paulo Foundation artist’s grant.
